Montgomery College in partnership with Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection RainScapes Program is offering a “Hands on Rain Garden and Conservation Landscape Installation Workshop” as a follow up from this past winter’s RainScapes Environmental Site Design Workshop. This is a one day workshop, September 11th, 9am-3pm, were we will be going over a site at Stadler Nurseries in Laytonsville, MD to determine drainage area, sizing the Rain Garden and Conservation Landscape, design criteria/layout and installing the gardens from start to finish.
What to bring: Bag lunch/food/drinks, eye protection, sun screen, and gloves.
Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:
1. Explain the concept and environmental benefits of Rain Gardens and Conservation Landscaping.
2. Discuss the benefits of Environmental Site Design (ESD) uses.
3. Perform a site analysis for ESD.
4. Describe the ESD process.
