Good Afternoon,
Thank you for your patience as we gathered notes and resources to share with you resulting from the Southern Maryland Habitat Forum on Dec 9, 2019.
Attached you will find the list of Forum participants with contact information.
Also attached you will find summary notes from the day. Due to the many engaging conversations happening throughout the day, there was no way to capture it all! We hope these notes provide you with a high-level review of the day. If there is any additional information you would like to share with the group that was not captured here, please let us know!
Some of the Forum participants wanted to share some additional resources for the group:
1. One of the important themes was (and is) outreach, diversity and reaching a consensus to preserve and enhance our valuable watersheds. This includes education to others including the development community. To that end, please see the following links to the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) about outreach to their 1.3 million members. The first is an overview of their Smart Growth education program, while the second, is the link to their quarterly publication.
2. There are several books that may be of interest to this group:
3. AWOL Video regarding Charles County:
4, Southern Maryland Heritage Area/Destination Southern Maryland (with resources and grants available to assist with your work):
5. Maryland Association of Environmental and Outdoor Educators (for those who are interested in school-related programs):
PLEASE NOTE: We have started a Southern Maryland Habitat Forum resource page on Chesapeake Network We encourage everyone to join the page to stay connected!
Thank you again for joining us for the inaugural Habitat Forum. Please stay tuned for information regarding the next event in spring 2020!
Thanks!
