The AACPS Office of Environmental Literacy and Outdoor Education at Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center is looking for volunteers!

We are welcoming volunteers for our Land Steward, Eco-Buddy programs and more. If you are interested in any of the opportunities below, or a different volunteer opportunity found on our volunteer webpage, please contact Volunteer-ELOE@aacps.org.

Trees are Terrific:  Lead kindergarteners through fun and engaging programs about bugs, birds, animals, and of course trees. Worried about no previous teaching experience? Don’t be! We will be sure to give training and instruction before students arrive about how to best run your activity. This program meets at Downs Park and runs for about 3-4 hours.

 

Eco-Buddy: Maintain first grade monarch butterfly gardens and care for new trees planted by kindergarten students at elementary schools in Anne Arundel County. Responsibilities include weeding, planting, mulching, and watering as needed.

4th grade Program:  Lead 4th grade program activities focused on bees, water, and the exploring the environment around us. Worried about no previous teaching experience? Don’t be! We will be sure to give training and instruction before students arrive about how to best run your activity. This site occurs of property here at Arlington Echo and can run any where from 4-8 hours.

Chesapeake Connections:  Lead 6th grade activities focused on our changing environment and explore the world around you. Worried about no previous teaching experience? Don’t be! We will be sure to give training and instruction before students arrive about how to best run your activity. This program meets off-site at different locations such as Patuxent Park and a local farm in Davidsonville. This is a good opportunity for those interested in exploring and the environment. This program runs for about 3-6 hours.

Drown Proofing:  Support students
