The Healthy Environment, Healthy Communities Grant Program is open and accepting applications now through October 24, 2024! This opportunity will support environmental improvements and community engagement activities in the Curtis Bay and surrounding communities, as well as the communities of the Patapsco River and Back River Watersheds.

Eligible Project Types:
Applicants can request funds for a range of project types. Generally, requests will fall into one of the following project types:

  • Outreach, education, and engagement on environmental topics and natural resources in the community
  • Environmental action projects that improve the environment/natural resources in the community
  • Larger-Scale (>$30,000) watershed/environmental restoration

Who can apply: Nonprofit organizations, community, homeowners, and/or neighborhood associations, faith-based organizations, service, youth, and civic groups, and more.

Funding Availability:

  • ~$225,000 for projects located in Curtis Bay and surrounding Communities, out of a total of up to $750,000 anticipated to be available through this funding opportunity.
  • ~$1.1 million for projects located in the Patapsco River and Back River watersheds, out of a total of up to $1.9 million anticipated to be available through this funding opportunity.

Applicants are not restricted in how much they can ask for, but they should be aware of the funding availability. Funding requests accepted through this program will generally be between $5,000 to $100,000, depending on the project type and scale of the project. Please contact the Trust prior to applying to discuss larger funding requests.

We will be hosting a series of office hours while the program is open, and they will be a time for applicants to drop in and ask questions, chat about project ideas, and more.
