How do you view clean energy development? Why do some people enjoy seeing wind and solar, and others say it just doesn’t “fit” with the community? Through stories and case studies, environmental sociologist Grant Samms explores the factors that underpin how we feel about clean energy development close to home.
Grant Samms studies issues of rural energy resilience and conservation at the Center for Environment & Society at Washington College. While earning his masters degree in Environmental Sociology from Oklahoma State University, he witnessed firsthand how energy development and community identity intersect in the oil fields of western Oklahoma. An advocate for clean energy and local autonomy, Grant is passionate about an energy future that is clean, resilient, and democratic.
