Do you live in DC, love hands-on activities, and enjoy seeing results of your work? Are you free Wednesday or Thursday mornings/mid-day in the summer to take water samples? This may be perfect for you! Come join Anacostia Riverkeeper and our partners (Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, Aududon Naturalist Society, Potomac Riverkeeper Network, and Rock Creek Conservancy) sample all across DC this summer.
When will this start?
Monitoring starts the first week of May 2019 and ends in September 2019. Monitoring will typically occur 7AM to 1PM on Wednesdays or Thursdays
Who can volunteer?
Anyone 18+ years old or kids with parents can help us monitor!
What kind of previous training do I need?
None! One in person training before monitoring is required and will be provided by Anacostia Riverkeeper and partners. The first training will be held at Earth Conservation Corps on April 3rd from 10 AM-2 PM and the second will be held at Audubon Woodend Sanctuary on April 10th from 10 AM-2 PM. A third training will be held sometime in June but details are to be determined.
