Thought about planting a pollinator meadow or riparian buffer, but daunted by the expense? Find out how to get state and federal programs to cover most of the cost of eco-friendly improvements to your land! There’s no minimum acreage required for several of the programs, and funding is available for wildlife & pollinator habitat, tree planting, stream fencing, rain gardens, rainwater harvesting, invasives control, and green roofs.

Join conservation nonprofit Sustainability Matters at Spring House Farms in Maurertown. Owners Jeff & Ali Carithers will give us a tour of their extensive habitat & pollinator plantings (some installed through conservation funding programs), as well as some experience-based tips.

We’ll hear from representatives of the Farm Service Agency (FSA), Lord Fairfax Soil and Water Conservation District, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and Virginia Department of Forestry. They’ll explain the funding they offer, what it covers, and who’s eligible.

There’ll be plenty of time for Q&A and info exchange, as well as light refreshments.

The event is free, but registration is required CLICK HERE

Registrants will be emailed directions to Spring House Farms a few days before the event.

PLEASE NOTE: Farmers and agricultural landlords might prefer to come to the ag-focused version of this event on Feb 25. See https://www.facebook.com/events/595367601294310/
