The Havre de Grace Maritime Museum and Environmental Center is seeking a full time (35 hour/week) educator with citizen science experience to manage the Museum’s Environmental Center laboratory and visitors’ gallery used for student education and training, and to conduct citizen science monitoring of submerged aquatic vegetation and water quality testing. The position includes educational programming for K- 12 students and adults (lectures, hands-on labs, and conducting a summer kayak program), citizen science, recruiting and overseeing activities of the Environmental Center volunteers, creating and posting social media (with support from the Museum director), writing and managing grants in collaboration with the Museum director and Board president, supporting organization-wide fund raising events, and attending Board of Directors meetings (once per month). The Museum recently founded the Upper Chesapeake Bay Watershed Alliance with five organizations focused on the health of the Bay. The position will support (with the assistance of the Board president) the mutual activities of members of the Alliance; we expect this to be a growth opportunity for the employee in terms of experience and financial compensation. This position reports to the Museum’s Executive Director, with technical guidance / direction from the Museum President. Application deadline November 30, 2022.

Qualifications (minimum): Bachelor of Science (earth sciences), minimum of three years of experience
