The Coastal Education and Leadership Program Assistant will achieve valuable supervisory experience as they help to manage our high school intern program. They will also gain experience leading groups of all ages and teaching a diverse array of topics that highlight the dynamic ecosystems of a barrier island. Coastal Education and Leadership Program Assistants work alongside program staff to provide a diverse range of educational and scientific program experiences. Program activities are varied and may include kayaking and canoeing, nature hikes, marsh-mucking, boat trips, campfires, science labs, seining and trawling, skit nights, marine organism collection, water testing and sampling, island tours, etc. Coastal Education and Leadership Program Assistants will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with outreach programming, network with professionals in the marine and environmental science field, and assist with University & Research programming and college courses. You will gain valuable and diverse knowledge regarding aquarium and field equipment use and maintenance, group leadership skills, and build a solid base of education experience. Apartment style lodging with max. one roommate is provided and meals are available when the dining hall is open.
