The Elizabeth River Project is looking for a candidate with a passion for protecting the environment to join our organization as our Assistant Director of Restoration.

The Assistant Director of Restoration will work directly with the Deputy Director of Restoration with a primary responsibility to manage larger-scale oyster, wetland, water quality improvement and sediment restoration projects. The assistant director will also be responsible for helping recruit and coordinate similar efforts by partners and community groups and helping obtain funding for such projects throughout the Elizabeth River watershed. The assistant director will additionally oversee development of project designs and permits, coordinating with and overseeing contractors as needed to ensure projects are completed efficiently.

Qualifications and experience of the desired candidate include previous relevant project management experience and skills, to include contract management, budget management, and construction oversight relating to environmental improvement. The desired candidate should additionally have strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to engage with the community.

This hourly, full-time (40 hours/week) position pays $24 to $33.65/hour, based on past experience. There is possibility for additional technical differential for a highly skilled and/or highly experienced candidate.
