The Department of Natural Resources – Critical Area Commission for the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays is currently accepting applications for a full-time Natural Resources Planner IV. The Natural Resources Planner IV is a member of the natural resources planning team, responsible for monitoring land development projects and oversight of locally-implemented Critical Area protection programs. The Natural Resources Planner IV is expected to have experience in technical review of land development projects for compliance with Critical Area regulations; current and long-range natural resource planning assistance to local governments; research of planning, scientific and resource management issues relevant to local Critical Area programs; research and implementation of climate change adaptation techniques; legal land use issues as they relate to Critical Area law; data; oversight of grants to local governments; report preparation and public presentations concerning Critical Area regulations and practices. This position is with the Critical Area Commission for the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays, which is an independent commission housed under the Aquatic and Natural Resources Division of the Department of Natural Resources. It requires collaboration with other Critical Area Commission staff, appointed Commission members, other DNR staff, local government staff, and a wide range of nonprofit and governmental agencies. This collaboration is key to the success of this position.
