Join Southern Maryland Audubon for our monthly bird talk featuring “Winter Warblers,” some of the most illusive—but most rewarding— birds to spot. Cody Kent, assistant professor of Quantitative Vertebrate Biology at Frostburg State University, who is currently researching the impact of human activities on warblers, will describe what scientists are learning about their secret winter lives in the Caribbean and the importance of those wintering grounds to warbler survival and nesting success when they return to our forests and yards in the spring. Dr. Kent’s current research also includes examining how small-scale land management actions impact bird diversity within Washington DC.
