Join Lancaster Conservancy citizen scientists as they survey an oak-hickory forest for spring emergence of plants and animal activity. Learn how the science of phenology helps track important biological responses to increasing temperature and longer daylight hours over time. And learn how you can become part of this national USGS phenology project to collect and analyze data that helps restore and manage critical ecosystems for biodiversity and resilience.
What to Expect: The hike will follow an approximately 1-mile universally accessible trail. This event is for ages 12 and up. Participants must be accompanied by an adult if younger than 18.
What to Bring: Bring binoculars if you have them and a notebook or your phone for notetaking. Dress for the weather and be prepared for possible cold temperatures and wind in a ridgetop forest.
