The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Chesapeake and Coastal Service; Annapolis is currently accepting applications for assignment of higher-level duties as a Natural Resources Planner III.

This position is the program officer for the Whole Watershed Fund and Program, managing multi-year, multi-partnered targeted restoration projects affiliated with multiple state funding sources affiliated with the Whole Watershed Program and Fund, as well as the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund pay-for-success contracts and living shoreline grants. The Position will provide grants management and project support to grantees as well as technical support to grantees and Unit staff. The projects that are managed under this position further multiple Chesapeake Bay restoration goals including improvement in water quality, habitat, and ecological uplift; adapting to the negative impacts of climate change and sequestering carbon; providing recreation and local employment opportunities; and ensuring funding is reaching under-engaged communities throughout the state.
Specific tasks related to this role include:
  • Convening and leading technical and field staff from project sponsors and grantee organizations to ensure that project deliverables are being met through application of latest science and best management practices for shallow-water habitat improvements.
  • Guiding project partners on program and agency processes in order to obtain reports and data related to project implementation and resource deliverables.
  •  Managing restoration projects to document progress, oversight of invoicing and tracking of expenditures, and assistance in developing an annual report to the State legislature and to the Whole Watershed State Management Team.
  • Negotiate, develop and execute grants and contracts, including scheduling and conducting site visits and grantee meetings.
  • Review, approve and/or revise reports and invoices.
