The Chesapeake Bay Trust (Trust) is excited to announce that the application for Host Organizations for the 2025-26 Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps (CCCC) Program is open. Additionally, new this year, the Trust is partnering with Maryland’s Department of Service and Civic Innovation to administer the Maryland Climate Corps (MCC) Program as part of the State’s Service Year Option. The Trust is also excited to announce that the application to serve as a Host Organization for the 2025-26 MCC Program is also open at this time.
For this upcoming year, the Chesapeake Bay Trust anticipates placing approximately 45-50 Corps Members at nonprofit organizations and government agencies across the state of Maryland for a one-year term of stipend-supported service from August 19, 2025 to August 18, 2026 through the Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps Program.
The Trust also anticipates placing a minimum of 40 MCC Fellows at nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and for-profit entities operating in Maryland for a 9.5 month term of stipend-supported service from September 10, 2025 to the end of June 2026.
Both programs will provide young adult participants with hands-on professional experience and skills in the environmental field by supporting projects and programs at their Host Organization, participating in professional development trainings provided by the Trust (and by DSCI via Service Year Option for MCC Fellows), and taking advantage of other program opportunities including networking (and grant writing for CCCC Members).
To see a full description of each opportunity, review the program element table on page 9-10 of the application package, found on the Trust’s website linked below.
Organizations may apply to, and potentially be selected to participate in, one or both programs. Organizations interested in serving as a Host for a CCCC Member and/or MCC Fellows, should submit their online application(s) through the Trust’s online system by 4:00 pm EST on Thursday, December 5th, 2024. In addition to the online application form, organizations should plan to submit a narrative describing the proposed activities they have to offer a CCCC Member and/or MCC Fellows. CCCC Members and Fellows can engage in a wide range of activities focused in the fields of climate change, environmental restoration, energy conservation, sustainable agriculture, forestry, community engagement, and/or preK-12 environmental education. The application package, narrative template, and access to the online application can be found on the Trust’s website at: https://cbtrust.org/chesapeake-climate-corps/apply/hosts/
The Chesapeake Bay Trust will be holding an information session about the Host opportunity for both programs on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024 from 12-1:30pm. We will be sharing details about each program, the application process, and answering attendee questions. The first portion of the session (~12-12:45pm) will be focused on the Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps program and the second half of the session (~12:45-1:30pm) will be focused on the Maryland Climate Corps.
