The Department of Natural Resources, Critical Area Commission for the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays, is currently accepting applications for a Natural Resources Planner III. The Natural Resources Planner III is a member of the natural resources planning team, responsible for monitoring land development projects and oversight of locally implemented Critical Area protection programs and to provide services to Towns as necessary. While specific experience with Maryland’s Critical Area law is not required, the Natural Resources Planner III is expected to have experience in environmental and land use planning, including: technical review of land development projects; natural resource planning assistance to local governments; knowledge of planning, scientific, and resource management practices with particular focus on climate resiliency and climate equity; and report and public presentation preparation.

This position is with the Critical Area Commission for the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays, which is an independent commission housed under the Aquatic and Natural Resources Division of the Department of Natural Resources. It requires collaboration with other Critical Area Commission staff, appointed Commission members, other DNR staff, local government staff, and a wide range of nonprofit and governmental agencies. This collaboration is key to the success of this position.
