This position is located in the Division of Hydropower Administration & Compliance, Office of Energy Projects, in Washington, DC.

As an Environmental Protection Specialist, some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Analyzing and providing recommendations on a wide variety of environmental protection issues associated with either the construction and operation of hydropower facilities, and proposing recommendations to avoid, minimize, and mitigate impacts.
  • Preparing environmental assessments (EAs) pursuant to National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) and in accordance with the Commission’s Rules of Practice and Procedure, and organizing the work of environmental consultants who assist staff in preparing NEPA analyses.
  • Coordinating, moderating, and making presentations at public scoping meetings, comment meetings, federal/state/local government meetings, meetings with interested stakeholder groups, and conferences.
