Howard EcoWorks is kicking off 2019 with a Community Resiliency Education Series. Lectures, workshops and tours will be held throughout the year to educate the community on different facets and approaches to building individual, community and landscape-scale resiliency. Our goal is to generate discussion and dialogue around actions and opportunities that we will all need to prepare for an uncertain future. Keep an eye on our website and follow us on social media for upcoming events!
Resiliency includes enhancing food security by mitigating impacts to our food sources through self-reliance. In this unique workshop, Howard EcoWorks is partnering with Michael Judd for a Growing Gourmet Mushrooms Workshop to be held on March 3rd, 2019. This workshop will provide both an educational presentation and hands on log inoculation, allowing participants to learn and explore how fun and easy it is to grow delicious mushrooms. At the end of this 2 hour event, each person will get to take home a mushroom log of their own creation! All materials will be provided.
This event includes a bonus – all participants will receive a small bundle of trees courtesy of the Chesapeake Bay Trust and Howard County Government. Planting trees has innumerable benefits, including supporting healthy soil systems that in turn support us!
Ticket Price: $75
