Come and join us this February at the NHSM to discover the science behind iron.  We will explore all the exciting elements of iron from its creation to its modern day uses.  This event will feature a variety of stations and demonstrations from a local blacksmith and chemists from the American Chemical Society and the Us Army Research lab as well as talk from Tom Piscitelli.

Talk: 1:15 pm: Tom Piscitelli MICRO-ORGANISMS PACK A WALLOP—POW! BAM! BIF! (BANDED IRON FORMATIONS) OR WHERE DID IRON COME FROM?

  • 2:00- Justin Mills, a local blacksmith, will give a demonstration.
  • Join chemists from the American Chemical Society and the US Army Research Lab for hands-on activities related to iron.  We’ll cover density, the origins of magnetism and iron in a food product.
