Kick off the growing season by joining new conservation organization Sustainability Matters at our first annual Seed Swap. Bring your vegetable, herb, annual, and perennial seeds to share and swap with others. The swap is free to all and will operate on a ”bring what you can; take what you need” basis. Thanks to the kindness of local businesses and sustainable seed companies, we have exciting donations of Botanical Interests, Baker Creek Heirloom, and other seeds to start us off.
Please avoid open-pollinated seeds from vegetables like tomatoes and squash, since we never know quite what they’ll turn out to be! Package seeds in individual envelopes if possible, and label with year collected or sold. Gardening books are welcome too; those that remain after the event will be donated to the library.
At 4 p.m., there’ll be a short hands-on demo on seed starting, and Q&A with our seed experts, followed by a raffle to benefit Sustainability Matters. For anyone who might be interested in joining us as a volunteer, we’ll be hosting a short volunteer orientation at 2 pm before the event.
