Join former Senator Bernie Fowler and other dignitaries as they wade into the river for the30th anniversary of this great event! Mr. Fowler started the “white sneaker” test as a means of checking water clarity. His ingenuity has led to multi-tributary events across Maryland showcasing efforts to save our rivers and streams. Before and after wading, enjoy environmental demonstrations, music, and exhibits.
What is the “Sneaker Index”?
An annual measurement of water quality based on how far Mr. Fowler can wade into the river while still being able to see his white high-top sneakers. The farther he can wade the better the clarity of the water. Come join us and be a part of history!
