Chesapeake Natives is throwing a Fall Festival this Sunday, October 27th, (10AM-3PM, 9640 Rosaryville Road) and we can’t wait to celebrate with you! Join us for a full day of fun, community, and the beauty of fall. Whether you’re a native plant enthusiast or just looking for a great time, this festival is packed with activities for everyone! Here’s what we have lined up:
Native Plant Sale:
Explore a variety of local ecotype native species (LENS) for your garden and habitat restoration projects. Our friendly staff and volunteers will be on hand to help you select the perfect plants! Plant lists and nursery maps will be shared later this week.
Local Art Vendors:
Support local artisans and browse unique, handcrafted items, perfect for gifts or a little treat for yourself.
Live Music:
Enjoy live performances throughout the day, with local musicians providing the perfect soundtrack to the festival.
Delicious Food:
Satisfy your taste buds with tasty bites from Aunt Titty’s Food Truck. Check out their menu and the story behind their name here: aunt-tittys.com. Plus, enjoy sweet treats from Lickity Split Ice Cream Truck!
Kids’ Activities & Face Painting:
Bring the little ones for fun activities and face painting, keeping them entertained while you enjoy the festivities.
Mount Airy Mansion History Talk:
Step back in time and learn about the rich history of Mount Airy Mansion with Park Ranger Olivia. Discover its 250-year legacy, including connections to U.S. presidents and its significance in various wars. Talks are at 11 AM & 2 PM.
Garden Tours:
Take a guided tour of our native plant gardens and see how we use local ecotype species to restore biodiversity and habitat.
Community Organizations:
Meet and connect with local community groups, learn about their initiatives, and discover ways to get involved in meaningful causes.
Food Drive:
In partnership with Adrienne’s Window Foundation, we’re hosting a food drive to support local families in need. Bring a non-perishable food item, and as a thank you, we’ll give you 10% off your native plant purchase! Here are some suggested items:
– Seasonal favorites: Stuffing mix, mashed potatoes (box), canned sweet potatoes & marshmallows, cranberry sauce, pie shell & canned filling
– Fruits and veggies: Canned vegetables (corn, peas, carrots, green beans, etc.), canned fruit
– Drinks: Hot chocolate packets, apple/cranberry juice
Costumes Welcome:
Celebrate the season by wearing a costume! We’ll have Halloween candy for all participants—kids and adults alike! Costumes are encouraged for everyone.
