Local governments across the Chesapeake Bay watershed are working to ensure that their watershed planning and implementation is equitable and meeting the needs of their communities. To support this goal, new tools are being developed to help pull out the most relevant datasets and identify areas of need. However, this is a process that must be done with care and consideration of local conditions and perspectives.
In this webinar, we will hear from Dr. Heckert and Dr. Rosan on their Green Infrastructure Equity Index. The tool, originally developed in Philadelphia, is designed to provide a GIS-based, user-friendly way to help local governments and advocates identify areas to target from an equity perspective when deciding where to implement green infrastructure. The approach taken in the design of this tool also provides a useful framework for communities across the watershed to consider when making their own planning decisions.
