I hope you’re well! TNC Maryland/DC will be hiring a Climate Resilience Policy Intern this summer. I am reaching out today to ask for your help in sharing this posting with your networks. The intern will be supervised by me, and will work closely with the government relations, coastal resilience, and urban stormwater teams.
Internship Overview
The Climate Resilience Policy Intern will work as part of the Maryland/DC Government Relations team to assist in efforts to move climate resilience policy at the state level. Work will include assisting with policy research and review of climate focused grant programs being administered by MD state agencies, include MDNR, MDEM, MDE, and MDT. This project would be a continuation of previous work TNC has done to identify gaps in state funding and the equity considerations that are needed for grant programs to be more responsive to community needs. The intern will also assist with a coastal resilience focused climate adaptation policy development project. The work ties in with the larger funding issue areas and our team is developing a climate resilience policy package for the MD coastline and urban stormwater. The intern may assist in conversations with environmental and community partners, policy influencers, and provide support for in-person convening between these entities.
The intern will work a total of 350 hours over the course of the summer. We offer a hybrid and flexible work schedule with the ability to work from home, and at a minimum one day in the office. The intern will have access to our Bethesda, Maryland Field Office. Undergraduate interns will be compensated at $20/hour and Graduate interns will be compensated at $25/hour.
