Applications are now open for Chincoteague Bay Field Station’s Coastal Education and Leadership Program (CELP)! This high school internship is perfect for students looking to get hands-on, feet-wet this summer! CELP Interns assist CBFS staff in facilitating our intergenerational summer camp programs, acting as teaching assistants while getting hands-on field experience in a coastal environment. Classes include fish biology, dune ecology, wetland ecology, and an oceanography research cruise! CELP Interns, under the supervision of Summer Program Assistants, will plan and lead evening activities for program participants while learning about program facilitation and developing their leadership skills.
CELP Interns will have access to all the resources CBFS has to offer, including networking opportunities and the chance to sit in on college-level courses.
This 9-week internship runs June 10 through August 9, 2024. Housing is provided. Most meals provided (Sunday dinner through Friday breakfast each week). $500 stipend.
Interns must be 16 or older by the start of the internship. This internship is intended for rising high school juniors and seniors, or recent high school gradates.
