The Department of Natural Resources, Critical Area Commission for the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays, is currently accepting applications for a Natural Resources Planner IV.
This position serves as a member of the Critical Area Commission’s planning team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: evaluate development projects, subdivisions, site plans, variances and other related proposals for impacts on natural resources and consistency with Critical Area requirements including stormwater management and habitat protection; conduct site visits; provide technical assistance to local governments including onsite guidance regarding stormwater management, habitat protection, coordination of local zoning and subdivision regulations with Critical Area requirements, correspondence and testimony at public hearings; advise property owners, consulting engineers, attorneys and the general public on the Critical Area law and regulations; review county and municipal Critical Area programs for consistency with State law and regulations; analyze and process local program amendments; prepare and present staff reports; research potential impacts of sea level rise on the Critical Area; assist in the design and implementation of climate change adaptation techniques for State and local agencies; review federal projects for consistency with Critical Area requirements; and analyze data related to land use, resource protection, property values and development regulations.
