Internship Description:
Neighborhood Sun is looking for an intern to join our dynamic company during the Summer of 2018 as we get ready to launch our first solar projects. The company’s mission is to bring solar to everyone, not just the select few. To make the solar dream a reality for all kinds of households, we engage the community through various events and tabling set-ups. The intern will help us by researching our target markets, engaging actively with potential subscribers, raising awareness about community solar, and other important tasks as needed.
Must Have:

- High energy and personable.
- A real entrepreneurial spirit and a “self-starter”.
- Extremely responsible.

- Passion for the environment and/or interest in clean, renewable energy.

- Tech-savvy and able to quickly learn new tools.
The role of this position:
The intern will primarily assist with all public outreach efforts for the company as well as sales support and some research. S/He will represent Neighborhood Sun and recruit members at a variety of events, or assist our team at these events. Typical activities may include, but are not limited to: direct outreach to potential customers, writing on and managing social media accounts, assisting and planning community events, researching to support business strategy, sales support, and general office organization.
Compensation: Transportation Reimbursement and stipend TBD.
Schedule: May – August, 2018. Must be willing to work on occasional weekends and evenings.

What you’ll learn: Interns will build skills in marketing, sales and outreach, and will get hands-on experience in the Community Solar field. This clean energy market is poised for strong growth in the near future throughout the US. By engaging with this solar market early on, the intern will gain invaluable insider experience before the sector becomes well-known.
A marketing intern will learn how to collect, research and analyze data. You will also learn how to craft unique messaging and propose media materials. There will be opportunities for the intern to develop their interpersonal skills while assisting a mentor in building partnerships or marketing our services. Depending on the intern’s comfort level and experience, s/he might learn through job shadowing a mentor or by directly contributing her ideas to the assignment.
