Marketing Assistant
10 Months Seasonal Position
Full-Time: Monday – Friday, Occasional Evening & Weekends

Job Overview:
Howard EcoWorks is hiring a Marketing Assistant to support in the management of marketing operations for Howard EcoWorks. The Marketing Assistant will support the development of content for the website, social media, workforce recruitment efforts, programs, reports, events, and advertisements. The Marketing Assistant collaborates with the staff to develop, expand and maintain marketing channels. The Marketing Assistant possesses a good understanding of the latest marketing trends and techniques, is enthusiastic, and has excellent communication skills that are applied to the environmental sustainability industry.
The Marketing Assistant position is serving as a Climate Corps Fellow under the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation.
Climate Corps Fellow
The Maryland Climate Corps provides recent Maryland high school graduates, GED
recipients or those who have earned a high school completion certificate the
opportunity to spend one year with partnering organizations (Howard EcoWorks) that support their growth and development. In turn, the opportunities provided strengthen
Maryland’s green workforce and prepare participants for growing workforce needs.
Responsibilities:

Support marketing campaign planning and execution.

Write copy for social media posts, promotional emails, and other marketing collateral.

Assist in the creation of written, video, and image content for marketing channels.

Participate in marketing brainstorming sessions.

Develop and expand content management support for the EcoWorks website.

Measure and report the results of marketing initiatives.

Help distribute marketing materials.

Help organize marketing events, including EcoWorks annual fundraiser Soak It Up!

Manage and update company databases.

Assist in marketing and advertising promotional activities (e.g. social media, direct mail, and web).

Monitor all social media platforms for trending news, ideas, and feedback.
Qualifications & Requirements:
-
Applied understanding of basic marketing principles.

Familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.).

Self-starter with ability to work independently.

Comfortable with multitasking and working under deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Understanding of website techniques and best practices.

Basic photography, image and video editing, and graphic design skills.

Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Google Drive.

Previous experience with the use of Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro) or Canva.

Own transportation, when needed, with mileage reimbursement at the 2023 federal rate.
Climate Corps Fellowship Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age by September 11, 2024.

Must be a Maryland Resident

Earned a high school diploma, certificate of completion, or GED in Maryland during 2021, 2022, or 2023
Wages: $15/hr

Paid sick leave – 1 hour of Sick and Safe Leave accumulated for every 30 hours worked, accumulating up to 40 hours per year. Accrual starts on the first day of employment and one is eligible to use sick and safe leave after the completion of 30 days of employment
