This professional position will oversee the Division’s clean energy procurement program, developing and implementing strategies to meet the County government’s goal to deploy 100% renewable energy for its electricity demand, including identifying and evaluating clean energy procurement options to meet Renewable Performance Standards (RPS). This position will manage County solar power purchase agreements, evaluate solar voltaic-supported microgrids for County facilities, and develop other clean energy recommendations for County operations. This position will also assist in the planning and implementation of community-wide clean energy initiatives such as developing community resilience hubs, expanding development of solar electricity generation countywide, and improving access to affordable clean energy for residents and businesses.  Supervision may be given to staff; supervision is received from the Climate and Energy Manager.

This position is located within the Division of Energy and Environment’s Department of Climate and Energy. This Department is largely responsible for administering projects and programs for our growing Climate and Energy (C&E) functions that meet the County Executive’s initiatives for 1) the Climate and Energy Action Plan for internal operations and community-wide, to include greenhouse gas emissions inventories, GHG mitigation plans, Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment, and Resilience Plan; 2) Clean Fleet and Electric Vehicle Infrastructure; 3) Building Energy Performance; and 4) Clean Energy Procurement.
