Coastal Resources, Inc. (www.coastal-resources.net), an ecological consulting firm located in Annapolis, MD, is currently accepting applications for a motivated seasonal/temporary environmental scientist on a flexible basis for 2-3 days a week from August through October 2024, with potential for up to 40 hours depending on candidate availability and company workload.  The position may also be eligible for extension or conversion to full-time, permanent status.

Candidates should have or be working towards or have a bachelor’s degree in applied sciences such as ecology, botany, soil science, aquatic resources, or natural resource management. Experience or course work with wetland delineation, plant identification, soil science, wildlife, aquatic ecology, or GIS a plus. Candidates should also have excellent written and oral communication skills and be proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel. Position will require a self-starter, with good organization skills who is willing to work outdoors in all conditions and spend time in a laboratory setting. Tasks will vary depending on current projects, but will most likely include assisting with:

  • Lab sorting of macroinvertebrates;
  • Field work related to wetland, forest, and stream assessments;
  • GPS field survey;
  • Data entry and assisting with report writing; and
  • Some administrative and clerical duties.

This opportunity is ideal for early career candidates or students with a small class load seeking professional experience. Work is primarily in-person, and candidates must live locally.
