If you would thrive in a culture like this, we’d love to talk to you. We are adding a SENIOR ECOLOGIST to our team. We’re looking for an innovative, curious type with a strong work ethic to see projects through to the end.
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Supporting environmental consulting efforts, including completing natural resource investigations and vegetation surveys; preparing wetland and forest stand delineations; developing forest conservation plans; and drafting wetland and waterway construction permit applications
- Routinely preparing ecological design drawings and yearly monitoring reports
- Assisting and overseeing stream/wetland restoration permit submittals and requests with various agencies
- Collaborating with Construction and Project Management teams to ensure compliance with planting and design criteria
- Assisting efforts to complete proposals, cost estimates, and invoices.
- Communicating with clients and local communities
Successful applicants have these qualifications:
- Environmental consulting and/or environmental compliance experience (Forest Conservation Plans, Wetland Delineations/Wetland Impact Plates, Planting Plans, and similar environmental documents)
- Substantial understanding of Maryland’s county, state, and local environmental permitting process
- Mid-Atlantic Region Plant ID knowledge and the ability to create ecologically functional plant pallets.
- Certification as Forest Conservation Qualified Professional
- Knowledge of biotic and abiotic factors and ecosystem ecology
- Interest in process-based ecological restoration
You will REALLY grab our attention if any of these describe you:
- Certification as Forest Conservation Qualified Professional
- Workable knowledge of GPS mobile units, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcGIS
- Exposure to HEC-RAS
- Experience with benthic and/or fish identification
- Stream and wetland restoration design experience including low-impact and process-based techniques
- Experience related to stormwater management
- Shoreline protection/restoration design experience
- Understanding of mitigation banking
