At the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, we are dedicated to teaching students about the history and culture of the Chesapeake Bay’s communities and environment.
Whether at CBMM, in a classroom, or out on the water, our virtual and in-person programs and curriculum units are designed to inspire, challenge, and enlighten students about the Chesapeake’s unique people and places.
The School-Age Educator is instrumental in facilitating the Education Department’s programs for PK-12 students, promoting CBMM’s mission through high-quality educational programming and fostering a positive learning environment for all school-age visitors.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver school-age programs virtually and/or in-person at CBMM, depending on needs.
- Facilitate positive learning experiences for students and educators.
Ideal candidates will have experience teaching children of various ages in formal or informal learning environments; A degree in education, museum studies, history, environmental science, or related field is desirable. Virtual educators must be comfortable facilitating programming through video conferencing software such as Zoom and Google Meet. In-person educators must also have the physical ability to work with students on CBMM’s 18-acre campus, exhibits, boats, and docks, in varied weather conditions. A passion for the Chesapeake Bay and its people is a must!
Positions range from fully remote, to partially remote based on candidate and program needs.
