Become a Chesapeake Steward with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation!

Take a deep dive into your local waterways and the Bay!

Join CBF for our inaugural D.C. Metro Volunteers as Chesapeake Stewards (VoiCeS) program.

Thursdays, October 5th- November 9th

6:00-8:00 PM

REI Flagship Store, 201 M Street NE, Washington, DC 20002

In this weekly class, you’ll hear from speakers about a variety of topics impacting the D.C. metro area and the greater Chesapeake Bay watershed, with a focus on our diverse, urban environment. There will be at least one optional field trip where participants will have the opportunity to get outside and learn more about clean water in-person.

VoiCeS is the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s most comprehensive adult education program available to its members and the public. In this professionally taught course, you will get to know your local waters, the issues that are impacting them, and how you can get involved. A variety of topics will be discussed, including:

  • environmental justice;
  • urban farming;
  • Anacostia River restoration efforts;
  • how to be an effective advocate;
  • and more!

This program will feature expert speakers from organizations in DC, including:

  • Anacostia Watershed Society
  • Potomac River Fisheries Commission
  • Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay
  • Anacostia Parks and Community Collaborate, Clean Water Action
  • Potomac Conservancy
  • DC Commission on Climate Change and Resilience
  • and more!

Participants who attend all six classes and one field experience will receive CBF’s certification as a Chesapeake Steward.

Registration closes October 4 and space is limited, so please sign up today!
